Location: Arlington Heights, IL

Schedule: Monday-Friday (35hrs/week - This is a full-time position with occasional evening or weekend work to meet application deadlines and hearing presentations)

Pay: $60,000/yr

Clearbrook empowers adults and children with intellectual/developmental disabilities to live their fullest lives possible. As the Coordinator of Community Day Services you are directly responsible for the operations and administration of all facilities and their staff in Community Day Services (CDS) program. The Coordinator of Community Day Services will be responsible for multiple sites.

Purpose

The Government Grant and Outreach Manager will be responsible for researching, writing, and submitting grant proposals to secure funding from local, state, county, federal and townships for various programs, projects, and initiatives. This individual will play a critical role in supporting the financial health and sustainability of the organization by identifying funding opportunities, crafting compelling proposals, and ensuring compliance with grant requirements and reporting. This individual will engage with the community through meetings, public events, and surveys to gather feedback and understand concerns along with partnering with coalitions and community organizations to learn about funding opportunities and partnerships.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Secure government grant funding that supports Clearbrook mission, goals, and strategic planning efforts (this position is responsible for approximately $1 million annually)
  • Evaluate funders’ guidelines and interests, analyzing relevant organizational needs with funders’ criteria and information. In partnership with program and facilities staff, make recommendations regarding pursuing funding opportunities.
  • Initiate, develop, and maintain relationships with funders as well as Clearbrook program staff to provide stewardship of grant funding, including but not limited to funder site visits as well as inviting funders to visit and tour Clearbrook.
  • Conduct research on additional governmental funding opportunities that align with Clearbrook’s mission, such as mental health boards, townships, and counties where Clearbrook is not currently receiving funding. This will include attending exploratory meetings, establishing relationships, researching, and making recommendations to senior staff
  • Write grant proposals unique to funders’ needs while maintaining files and other information (e.g., legal documents) common to all proposals.
  • Ensure compliance with all grant terms and conditions, including tracking deliverables and working with departments to ensure funded projects meet stated goals and objectives.
  • Attend hearings and meetings as required by funders. This may include some evening and weekend hours, along with travel throughout the Chicagoland area.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the relevant governmental funding landscape, including emerging trends and funding priorities
  • Maintain complete electronic and hard-copy files on all grants and supporting documentation in development database, Raiser’s Edge.
  • Utilize Microsoft Planner tool (or other agreed upon tool) to track grant applications, funding, implementation, and reporting process.
  • Work closely with operations staff to ensure deadlines are met and grant funds are used as funder intends.
  • Work with the Finance Department staff to gather information necessary to report to government funders on current grant programs.
  • Generate reports for the executive team and board of directors detailing grant status and funding as requested.
  • Maintain a high level of discretion and sensitivity to donor and agency confidentiality.
  • Participate in team meetings, support team projects/events, and other collaborative projects as assigned.

Experience

  • 3-5 years non-profit programming, partnership, development and/or fundraising experience, preferably in the field of intellectual/developmental disabilities.
  • Demonstrated strong writing skills – sample will be required for consideration
  • 2-3 years of successful experience in a professional grant capacity preferred.
  • Proven track record in government grant writing and reporting, with a success rate of at least 60% preferred
  • Experience in Raiser’s Edge CRM preferred

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in English, journalism, or liberal arts – or comparable experience.
