Job Description

Sacramento Waldorf School is seeking a dedicated and experienced Lower School Administrator to lead and inspire our Lower School community. This pivotal role offers the opportunity to guide a talented team of faculty and staff, support the growth and development of students, and help shape a thriving educational environment grounded in Waldorf principles. The Lower School Administrator is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, and daily operations of the Lower School (Grades Pre-K through 8). This individual ensures the delivery of a high-quality Waldorf education aligned with the mission and values of Sacramento Waldorf School. Responsibilities include supporting and supervising faculty, engaging with parents and the broader community, resolving conflicts, overseeing the budget, and participating in key committees. The ideal candidate brings strong administrative experience, a deep understanding of Waldorf education, and a warm, collaborative spirit to the role. This is a full-time, exempt position reporting to the Whole School Administrator.

Education and Related Work Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience as a Waldorf teacher, demonstrating a deep understanding of Anthroposophy and child development.
  • At least 5 years of administrative or leadership experience in an educational or nonprofit setting, including staff supervision, operational oversight, and community engagement.
  • Proven ability to collaborate across departments and work effectively with faculty, parents, and school leadership.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications:

  • Background clearances as required by state and federal regulations.
  • Mandated Reporter certification (renewed annually).
  • Sexual Harassment Prevention training certification (renewed every two years).
  • CPR/First Aid certification (renewed every two years).

Technical Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

  • Leadership & Management: Proven ability to lead with clarity, empathy, and accountability; effectively supervise and support faculty and staff while fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture.
  • Communication: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal; able to engage thoughtfully with students, parents, faculty, and community members.
  • Problem Solving & Conflict Resolution: Skilled at identifying issues, facilitating constructive dialogue, and implementing creative and practical solutions.
  • Planning & Organization: Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and follow through on commitments.
  • Professionalism: Maintains confidentiality, shows respect for others, and upholds the values and mission of Sacramento Waldorf School in all interactions.
  • Technology Proficiency: Comfortable using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and able to learn and utilize school-related software systems.

General information for prospective employees:

If employed for 75% or more over the course of the year, employees are eligible to participate in the following school-provided benefits: 

  1. Individual health and dental insurance 95% employer-paid for select plans 
  2. Dependent health and dental insurance 75% of premium 
  3. Individual and dependent vision insurance (partial employer-paid) 
  4. Eligible dependent children receive a tuition remission equal to 75% of the employee's Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) percentage, applicable to employees who are 75% FTE or higher.
  5. $10,000 life insurance policy with the option to purchase additional coverage
