**POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is primarily responsible for producing 3D solid models and 2D mechanical drawings utilizing SolidWorks Engineering software. This role is also responsible for proving out conceptual methods or practices as they relate to engineering or manufacturing functions. Supports the Design and Manufacturing activities of the company through efficient design for manufacturing.

Your design work will be crucial in advancing the company's mission of providing adaptable and scalable living spaces for diverse communities.

**POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

**

  • Responsible for accurate 3D models, shop drawings, and bill of materials.

  • Accurate and concise communication of the design intent and manufacturability

  • Consistent use of DFM (Design for Manufacturing)

  • Excellent understanding of parametric design, manufacturing processes, plant capabilities and infrastructure.

  • Relies on significant experience to make appropriate decisions when required.

  • Assists Production to develop and document processes for repeatability.

  • Follows standards in accordance with LIT Workshop policies to which solid models are to be created, annotated, and published.

  • Recognize, evaluate, communicate, and implement innovative solutions.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of mechanical systems, structural design and architectural design.

  • When necessary, take part in Design reviews to determine process and techniques to build work to client’s specifications.

  • **Experience:

    ** Minimum of 3-4 years of experience as in mechanical design or design for manufacture. Preferred with at least 1 year of experience specifically focused on modular design and construction. Familiarity with building regulations and safety standards.

  • **Strong Design Portfolio:

    ** A portfolio showcasing complex assemblies, highlighting your organization and attention to detail, with a focus on manufacturability.

  • **Skills:

    ** Proficient understanding of CAD drawings, blueprints, and equivalent fabrication drawings. Comprehensive knowledge of multiple build and fabrication processes, techniques to solve a wide range of problems, and building materials.

  • **Software:

    ** Expertise in Solidworks and Microsoft Office (Excel & Teams Primarily).

  • **Collaboration:

    ** Proven experience working in cross-functional teams with architects, engineers, product designers and production teams, demonstrating your ability to translate complex technical requirements into functional design solutions.

  • **Sustainability Focus:

    ** A deep understanding of sustainable design practices and environmentally conscious materials.

  • **Problem-Solving:

    ** Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills with a passion for innovative, scalable design solutions.

  • **Communication:

    ** Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly articulate design decisions and their rationale to internal and external stakeholders.

  • **Availability:

    ** The position is in-person but also requires cooperation with remote team members through email, phone calls, and message channels.

  • **Education:

    ** A degree, certificate, or commensurate work experience in Product Design, Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
